About Our CPAT Training Program

This unique program is designed to enhance the fitness levels of first responders, especially firefighters and EMS personnel. Our program is focused on training aspiring fire service candidates to pass the entry level physical fitness test called the CPAT. The "Candidate Physical Aptitude Test is the entry level standard for anyone applying for a career in the fire service.

Our program is not limited to CPAT trainees. My ultimate goal is to enhance the safety and wellness of all first responders and military personnel through improved physical fitness. So, if you are a new firefighter just getting started or an experienced veteran trying to stay healthy and maintain performance, this program is ideal.

What iS the CPAT?

The CPAT is required for entry into the fire service but most public safety careers require a level of physical fitness in order to have a safe and healthy career. CFM designed this program for anyone who wants to enhance their performance in the physical nature of public safety duty.

Dan Wassmer

“I’m a firefighter and paramedic with nearly 30 years of public safety experience. I served in the US Navy as a medical corpsman before dedicating my life to public service. In addition to that, I have been a CrossFit coach for 12 years. I’m extremely well versed in the physical demands of firefighters, law enforcement officers and EMS personnel.

My ability to adapt various training modalities for different people to the demands of public safety performance and CPAT success is founded in my decades of fire/EMS service as well as the past 12 years as a CrossFit trainer. My foundations of training are strength, endurance and mobility. After all, training is only effective if it’s sustainable and without injury.
